MINES ParisTech

Since its creation in 1783, MINES ParisTech has produced engineers of the highest quality, equipped to deal with complex problems in a wide range of fields. MINES ParisTech conducts important industrially-oriented research and attracts more research contracts than any other French Grande Ecole. The range of its research is vast, taking in energy, material science, earth sciences, economics and the social sciences. The école is also creating new teaching and research posts in emerging fields of knowledge.

Alongside Chimie ParisTech and ESPCI, Mines ParisTech plays a central role in the development of the  Institute of Technology and Innovation.


Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST, Wuhan)

HUST is active in setting up international academic exchanges and co-operations. It has established relations with around 100 foreign universities and research institutes. It is about 3000 HUST staff members have experiences studied overseas. Approximately 1000 long-term international students have graduated in HUST.

HUST has made experience in vocational training since 1950s. HUST started it graduated students program from 1960s and was one of universities issuing PhD and Master degrees in early of 1980s just when China established its academic degree system.

HUST has pursued a lot of actions of education and research in sectors about solar energy, wind power, biomass energy, electricity grid, energy efficiency, geothermal and CCS, etc..

HUST is the hosting university in China and provides facilities and human resources.


Wuhan University of Technology (Wuhan)

WUT was merged on May 27th 2000, from the former Wuhan University of Technology (established in 1948), Wuhan Transportation University (established in 1946) and Wuhan Automotive Polytechnic University (established in 1958). WUT is one of the leading Chinese universities accredited by the Ministry of Education and one of the universities constructed in priority by the "State 211 Project" for Chinese higher education institutions.


South-East University (Nankin)

Southeast University (SEU) is one of the national key universities administered directly under the Ministry of Education of China. It is also one of the first universities accredited by the State Council to determine and approve the qualifications of professors, associate professors and doctorial supervisors. It is also one of the universities of Project 211 and Program 985 that is financed by the central government to build as a world-class university.


Centro Interuniversitario di Ricerca per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile CIRPS (Italy)


CIRPS is an Interuniversity Research Centre counting 300 professors, researchers and experts as Ordinary Members belonging to the eleven Italian universities joining the centre, besides 40 other professors, researchers and experts as Associate Members belonging to universities which have not yet finalised their membership, and 50 further experts with high-level specialisation not belonging to the academic world but involved in projects promoted, coordinated or carried out by the Centre.

CIRPS coordinates and participates in networks of excellence, research projects, and activities for local development at international level, and carries out its work through collaborations and agreements with Universities, Research Centres, Enterprises as well as National and International Institutions. CIRPS activities are aimed at conducting research, developing and disseminating scientific knowledge, technological solutions and working methods, including organisation or social life that can allow sustainable development.

CIRPS provides the expertise and experience in implementing an international Master course, the contiuing education centre and research support platform in the clean and renewable energy area.



Northumbria University (Newcastle, United Kingdom) 


The University delivers courses to undergraduate and postgraduate courses across a wide rangeof subject areas and has the relevant physical and academic resources to provide a high quality student experience. Although the physical resources will not be used directly in the ICARE project, the experience of the academic staff involved will allow us to advise on the development of equivalent facilities in the proposed institute.

Northumbria University contributes to the European provision of faculty members for the establishment of course content, the delivery of the course in China and the training of staff at HUST to ensure sustainability of the course.

Northumbria University professors provide the academic lead for two M2 modules.

  • In the Solar Energy module, they are responsible for the teaching of the physics of photovoltaics devices, their design and manufacture, the design and operation of photovoltaic systems and aspects of economic and environmental analysis. They link with professors from ParisTech and the University of Perpignan to complete the solar energy theme.
  • In the Energy Conversion and Grid Control module, they are responsible for the teaching of grid integration of renewable energy sources, including power electronics, impact of distributed generation on the electrical grid and power quality aspects. The module is delivered in collaboration with professors from La Sapienza University.


National Technical University of Athens (NTUA, Greece) 


The National Technical University of Athens is dedicated to support the action by providing the expertise and experience in implementing an international Master course (and/or vocational training centre and/orresearch support platform) in the clean and renewable energy area.
NTUA is responsible of the Wind Energy Specialisation in the framework of the master.


Zaragoza University (Spain)

The University of Zaragoza, through the CIRCE Institute, is one of the European partners composing the ICARE. The main roles envisaged are: 

  • The implementation and the development of the Master
  • Programme along its whole duration; especially effort is planned by leading the modules of Biomass Energy and as contributing university in a number of modules.

  • The implementation and the development of the Vocational Training Centre for existing energy professionals. It is foreseen the full participation, materials preparation and lectures, in all the courses provided: advanced professional training, international seminar, and professional skills training.

The active participation for the implementation of the online Platform for scientific cooperation EU-Chinese researchers.

Université de Perpignan Via Domitia (Perpignan, France)

The University of Perpignan Via Domitia is dedicated to support the action by providing the expertise and experience in implementing an international Master course (and/or vocational training centre and/or research support platform) in the clean and renewable energy area.

UPVD contributes in the master course to the lectures/tutorials/tutoring in the solar thermal specialisation in M2. The course is dedicated to concentrated solar processes for electricity production (such as parabolic trough power plant, solar tower power plant,...).

Ecole Polytechnique (Palaiseau, France)

Ecole Polytechnique is a leading French institute which comprises top-level research, academics and innovation at the cutting-edge of science and technology. Its curriculum promotes a culture of excellence with a strong emphasis on science, anchored in humanist traditions. The school produces socially responsible professionals who excel in leading complex and innovative projects which address current and future challenges facing our society.


Chimie ParisTech (Paris, France)

Chimie ParisTech trains chemical engineers and chemists to assume high level positions in the chemical and related industries. Graduates find employment in the chemical industry, metallurgy, ceramics, polymers, nuclear, water treatment, process engineering, pharmacy, risk management, among many other technical domains.



ENSTA ParisTech (Palaiseau, France)

ENSTA ParisTech belongs to the foremost graduate schools of engineering in France. It offers its students a broad education in engineering with the aim of enabling them to design, carry out and manage complex technical projects. In this view, the institute provides a high-level scientific and technological education, which is constantly updated to keep pace with changes in the leading edge technologies, and supplemented by languages, humanities and the skills needed in business life such as law, communication, economics, accounting and mangement.
